I’m an Information Technology leader with more than 40 years of experience with the worlds largest technology product organizations and I/T support organizations.

I hold a B.S. in Systems Science with graduate study in Artificial Intelligence, Process Reengineering, and Global Management, and a patent holder in Internet Portals.  I’ve been a frequent speaker with client organizations and a variety of industry and vendor events including the IBM Palisades Executive Briefing Center, the Enterprise Architecture Conference, a Wall Street analyst conference, and Detroit TV.  I am also a founding member of the board of Climate Interactive (www.climateinteractive.org), an initiative to improve understanding of climate dynamics and accelerate action towards climate stabilization.

I started my career with IBM, and over 19 years held roles in product development, marketing, consulting, and management, including working with large Fortune 100 clients and the U.S. Government. I co-authored an IEEE network standard, engineered numerous nexgen business solutions, and was product manager for a variety of first-in-kind network management, communications, and collaboration software products.  In the late mid-90’s I helped lead the launch of several SaaS products.

In the early 2000s I worked in large I/T organizations at Ford Motor Company and Monsanto where I held roles as Vice President of IT Shared Services, Global CTO, and group CIO. Over these years I worked with great teams to lead dramatic improvements in infrastructure optimization, software engineering and SOA strategy, enterprise portfolio management, and I/T business operations and governance.  I was an early thought leader and implementer of cloud computing, collaboration, and software-as-as-service solutions.

From 2009-2022 I was an Executive Consultant and Coach to CIOs. First as my own Consulting company and then later as a Senior Executive Partner for Gartner.  Over seven years in this role I served 25+ CIOs clients on a monthly basis on topics of Strategic Leadership, Business and Technology Strategy, Cost Optimization, and Operational Excellence.

I founded Visioneering Partners Ltd in 1996 to provide consulting and coaching to deserving people and organizations. I am currently semi-retired, but still providing IT Leadership Coaching.
